About
The works of Ngalala Yaba transport the process of their making. By disassembling objects that have lost their function, the remains become a new material resource: paper becomes papier mâché, branches become wooden connectors, tissue becomes thread. In the diligent process of reassembling them, unexpected static center points and joints emerge. With each layer, the object gains stability.
The aesthetic of his objects is a consequence of that process: His pieces have playful fluid forms, following the peculiarities of the materials used on their way to becoming a stable honest object.
Ngalala lives and works in Saint Etienne, France and Berlin, Germany.
